OTOP Fair 2012 Phuket Thailand

The Community Development Department (CDD) under the Interior Ministry is hosting an OTOP fair in the province of Phuket to promote local products as well as contribute to the country’s economic growth.

CDD Director-General Prapas Boonyindee stated that on the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s 80th birthday anniversary, the department is delighted to promote the works of Her Majesty’s SUPPORT Foundation alongside OTOP products.

The One Tambon One Product project or OTOP is one of the government’s key policies, which encourages each community to apply local wisdom to the development of their products. Meanwhile, the public sector also provides assistance for local entrepreneurs in the form of knowledge of new innovations and management, so that they will be able to create a link between their products and the domestic and international markets.

Many activities, which were held to promote SUPPORT and OTOP products in the past, have generated income for the people as well as improve Thailand’s economic development.

The CDD, thus, is hosting an OTOP fair in Phuket under the theme “The Colors of Wisdom”, which boasts the diversity of Thailand’s culture, way of life and products. The event features a variety of goods from Her Majesty’s SUPPORT Foundation and OTOP products from across the country. The fair is open to the public during 19-25 March from 10.30-22.00 hrs.

Phuket has been chosen as the venue of the fair, given that it is an important economic area of the region with convenient transportation connecting to tourism and export routes while its locals also have high purchasing capacity.
